OCD, Anxiety and BFRB Treatment
Using evidence-based practices.
COVID-19 update: All sessions are held online.
Online Individual Therapy
Teletherapy is effective, convenient, and well-suited to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I offer teletherapy to residents of California and Florida through a HIPAA-compliant platform called VSee.
Intensive Online Individual Therapy
Depending on your needs, I may be able to offer intensive treatment. Whether you have moderate to severe symptoms or are hoping to make progress in a shorter time frame, intensive treatment may work well for you.
If you want to learn more about any of my specialties as a professional, family member, or loved one, I offer consultation sessions. These sessions may function as a supplement to services you or your loved ones are receiving.
Hi, I’m Crystal
Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
I received both my Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy, and my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Southern California (USC). I previously worked as a therapist at the OCD Center of Los Angeles and in several partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.
I specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), Mindfulness Based CBT, Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) for adults. My practice is focused solely on the treatment of OCD and related disorders, including Trichotillomania, Excoriation Disorder, Social Anxiety, Panic Disorder, and phobias.
My Treatment Approach
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Comprehensive Behavioral Treatment (ComB) and Habit Reversal Training (HRT) are evidence-based treatments that teach you the skills to maintain your progress in a sustainable way. Treatment for anxiety disorders consists of the following components:
Psychoeducation about symptoms
Identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns in a non-compulsive way
Building tolerance for discomfort or uncertainty through exposure work in ERP
Treatment for BFRBs consists of the following components:
- Psychoeducation about symptoms
- Identifying and challenging unhelpful thought patterns
- Mindfulness training
- Building insight through logging and the SCAMP model:
Using stimulation substitutes (e.g. sensory rings), competing responses (e.g. clenching fists when urge to pick skin arises) and behavior blockers (e.g. rubber fingertips) in ComB and HRT.
Getting Started is Easy
If we are a good fit, we will schedule an appointment after our first call.
During our first session, we’ll get to know each other and talk about the symptoms you’d like to target in treatment.
"We can’t control what thoughts and emotions arise within us, nor can we control the universal truth that everything changes. But we can learn to step back and rest in the awareness of what’s happening. That awareness can be our refuge.”
